Adding value to our children.

What if a child did what we did? Can we allow nothing to be hidden from our children. Are there things in our lives, secret things that we would not want our children to see or to know about us? How can we be better as fathers? These are all heavy questions that might not be easily answered for some of us. Giving little ones who carry our genetic information a gift is what all fathers want to do. We should allow our children to mimic us and to do what we do, this way we could possibly make our way to greater.

A good man leaves and inheritance to his children’s children. What good thing can we leave that last that long?

A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

The next question can our children be trusted with the inheritance. All that I have belongs to my children and would like to play a role in preparing them for managing it by being a good manager myself. Our children find tremendous value in themselves when we as parents can place our full trust in them and their ability to make decisions.

We must provide work that can be handed down to them because they can receive our jobs. The work must be established through our vision and dreams for our family. Ownership is a good way to ensure it can be passed but its through understanding it can be truly established. Parents must consistently demonstrate the values, morals, knowledge and applied skills so that our children are well equipped to manage any inheritance. In time the work, and all the responsibility as well the ability to make decision should be able to be passed to our children with our unconditional support. Anything short of this falls on us in provision, vision, understanding, and in lifting our children in a belief that they can do what we did and better.
